Australia japan pledge more cooperation at talks with the Philippines, India and other countries with human rights issues, the Japanese foreign ministry said in a release Sunday.
It said a meeting between Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida and Japan’s ambassador to the Philippines, Yukio Hirai, on Thursday was to address differences over human rights issues at talks in Manila on Nov. 20-21.
A bilateral cooperation agreement between Japan and China will be signed during the visit, Japan’s ministry said.
A meeting with China’s Prime Minister Wen Jiabao also took place on Oct. 30 during which the two sides will discuss areas of collaboration.
The Japanese and Chinese governments announced in July that they will deepen cooperation in human rights matters, including cooperation in the fields of international cooperation to combat human trafficking, illegal immigration and counterfeiting, among other issues.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of the Liberal Democratic Party said he and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is visiting Japan soon, discussed ways to improve cooperation in this field.
